Engine & Transmission

There is no way around it. Engine and transmission failures and replacements are the MOST expensive repair your vehicle can have hands down. Maintaining them is always a more cost-efficient choice.

Not all failures are a result of improper maintenance. Many can actually be flaws that just take time to appear. That being said, proper service and maintenance of your engine and transmission is the best thing you can do to keep your car or truck running at its best. Your engine and transmission consist of hundreds of moving parts. The fluids in your engine and transmission act as both a lubricant and to supply hydraulic pressure to certain components. Over time the fluids get contaminated with dirt and the additives and stabilizers break down and no longer create a lubrication barrier for the moving parts. Due to the breakdown of the lubricants, the moving metal parts heat up and start to wear, possibly causing a major failure.

The gaskets or seals in your engine and transmission prevent the fluids from leaking or mixing together. For instance, if most of your oil leaks out, there won't be enough to lubricate or pressurize your engine or transmission parts. If the fluids leak into another fluid (like engine oil and antifreeze/coolant mixing from a head gasket or intake manifold gasket) the chemical properties rapidly breakdown causing a mechanical failure. Changing and flushing your fluids at the proper intervals can help you make the most out of your vehicle.
